I hope you are all keeping safe and well in these hard times - seems so long ago that we were all able to run together but rest assured those days will come again!!!
I thought now would be a good time to let you know about something that has been happening behind the scenes ……..
A few months ago the club formed a new Running Forum to support the members and the committee and it was my pleasure to be asked to Chair the forum (for those who don’t know me I am the one that sometimes comes along and shouts at you on a Wednesday whilst Colin is away).
The other members of the forum are -
Graeme Jack
Graham Thom
Cordelia O’Neill
Tracey Longhurst
Jim Speakman
Rhona Boat
Sarah Berry
Sarah Jones
Jane O’Brien
Craig Boyle
Joe Lennon
Stephen Brown
David Gray
Allen Campbell
Lindsey Shields Waters
And what an awesome team they are …..
One of the first things decided by the forum was our primary purpose and with that our agreed mission statement is -
WE EXIST TO SUPPORT AND FACILITATE ALL MEMBERS WITH THEIR RUNNING GOALS REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY MAY BE!
This is very much to back up the ethos of the club - open and inclusive.
Over the past few months the forum has been working really hard to pull together a summary of all of the opportunities that the club can provide to ALL of the members - we are keen that all members have the platform to follow their running goals over the various types of running such as road, trail, x-country, chatty running, social running etc etc.
We were getting close to finalising all of this before lockdown hit us and now for obvious reasons some of the events that we might have linked into as a club have all now been postponed / will be rearranged at a future date.
There will therefore be much more on all of this in due course with loads planned for the website - all of this will follow when the time is right.
When we are in a position to get back together again the first few weeks of running will be all about just being together - no pressure, no PBs - just catching up with your running pals and finding your running mojo!
