Date : Sunday 14th August 2016
Registration : 9.00 - 9.45 am Coilhallien Woods Car Park Callander Cost : Donation to Strathcarron Hospice Bus to Aberfoyle leaves at 10am Message form the organiser Hi Folks Only a couple of weeks to go until the run. Margaret and I ran the route last weekend and you will be pleased to hear that the entire route is clear so we can return to the original distance of 11.8 miles! The first mile is just as hilly as ever but the terrain is definitely better - it is smooth and almost spongelike under foot which definitely takes some of the sting out of it. My approach is always to take it easy for that first mile which means you can enjoy the rest of a very pretty route. There is only a minor change between 8-9 miles where they have installed a few speed bumps. Other than that there will be a slight change in location of marshals/water stations. There will be a Marshal/water station at 2, 5, 6 and 9 miles - the 5 and 9 mile stations also have toilets. Finally, we will not have a mile marker at mile 7 - this is the very narrow off-road stretch alongside loch venacher. All other miles will be marked. Looking forward to seeing you all at Coilhallien Woods Car Park on Sunday 14th August between 9.00 - 9.45 for registration. Bus leaves at 10.00 for race start in Aberfoyle. As always, no charge for participating in the run but any donations for Strathcarron Hospice will be gratefully received. Kind Regards Maureen
