We are really excited to have things getting back to something that looks a bit more normal – and of course, for people from outside the city to come and run with us again.
The rule change means we can run in bigger groups of up to 50 people – but we do still need to keep to the 1:12 ratio of run leaders to runners. Luckily, we have lots of brilliant run leaders ready so this shouldn’t pose any problems.
This means:
Mondays, we will have one group of 50 at 6pm One group of 50 at 7pm
Fridays, we will have the return of Daylight Running, with one group of 50 at 12.30pm
One group of 50 at 6pm. There is no need to divide yourselves up by time – this will happen naturally as we set off.
Wednesday reps
We know that the last year has been hard and lots of people haven’t been running much, or have recently joined the club and might be a bit nervous at the thought of reps – so on Wednesday, we have a brand new “return to running” group. The group will be smaller, and the sessions will be fun and geared towards getting you confident and happy. You’ll be following a six week plan especially designed by Colin and he’ll be available for extra support during the sessions.
Also on Wednesdays, there will be another two groups (therefore 3 in total) – one for a 5k time of 25 minutes and under, and one for more than 25 minutes – be brave if you are hovering at 25 and go in the first group!
All the groups will keep meeting at 7pm. Just book in on the app and we’ll post the information on where to go and what to do on there.
Social distancing is not required once we have started running, but you should still maintain distancing before and after the session has ended. Remember some people are just returning to the club and might be nervous about people getting too close – so be kind and give everyone some space (we know you all will).
Don’t forget our Midsummer Madness week beginning on June 21. It promises to be lots of fun and a great way to reconnect with the club and the running community.
We really hope to see lots of old and new faces over the coming weeks. We have missed everyone so much. Remember if there is anything that is bothering you about coming back – maybe you are worried about being slower, or you have struggled with injuries, or you have forgotten how to talk to people away from a Zoom screen – talk to us. You can drop the running forum a message ([email protected]) and we’ll do all we can to make it easier for you.

We’ll keep an eye on how everything is working over the coming weeks – so do let us know how you are finding it.
Many thanks – looking forward to seeing you all in the coming weeks.
