Drymen 10K and 2.5K : additional prizes from local sponsors

Local businesses are backing the Drymen Junior 2.5K and Drymen 10K events, which both take place on August 27, by donating prizes. The winners of both the 8-11 and 12-16 age groups taking part in the Junior 2.5K will be rewarded with a free lesson at Buchanan Castle Golf Club, and winners and runners up of the 10K (men and women) will enjoy a free tour of Glengoyne Distillery, Dumgoyne. In addition, all runners in both races will receive a commemorative medal.

The races have been organised to raise funds for Talita Kum, Blythswood’s after-school project for disadvantaged children in western Romania . There is no obligation to be sponsored, but runners who raise over £30 in sponsorship will be rewarded.

To sign up for either race, go to www.blythswood.org/10k and follow the online instructions. Entry costs £5.00 for the 2.5K and £16 (£14 for members of Scottish Athletics) for the 10K. Entry forms are also available from Blythswood Care, tel 07970 863533 or email [email protected].

Entries will also be accepted on the day; registration for the 2.5K starts at 10am at Drymen Primary School and for the 10K at 12pm.

Many children in eastern Europe live in desperate poverty and a highlight of their year is being able to go to one of the camps run by our partners.
Please go to www.blythswood.org/donate to help provide a child with a week at camp this summer.

Aberfoyle to Callander Race Sunday14th August

5/8/2011

Hi Folks,

Full details for the run on the 14th. Please note there will be no training at Woodend that day.

Meeting in Callander at 10.00 am - specifically Coilhallan Woods' car park - where bus will take runners to Aberfoyle for start of the race. Bus will be £5, with the option of you donating whatever else you can afford. Any donations received will be forwarded to Strathcarron Hospice. If you can get someone to give you a lift to Aberfoyle and then pick you up at the end then obviously you won't need the bus. Assume the race will start around 11 just down from the David Marshall Lodge. Great training for a half marathon and a lovely run

Cheers, Flash.

P.S. Thanks so much for Friday!!
