The award recognises the strength and growth of the club over the past two years and in particular the recent success of the Newbies programme. In their newsletter the Council said:
"West End Road Runners are only 2 years old and to date they have 90 full members. ...... They achieved Scottish Athletics accreditation within four months of conception – something of a record – and they are now firmly established as part of the Glasgow running scene. WERR have also launched a new initiative called “WERR Newbies”. This is aimed at those who have either never run before or those who haven’t run for a long time or are long term injured; WERR Newbies has been hugely successful. Thanks to Graeme for the nomination, everyone involved in the Newbies programme and all members for making WERR the club is it! Below are representatives of the committee and Newbies programme picking up our award. Great running in the Father's Day Men's 10k, well done the WERR boys! And thanks to the photographers.
The Paisley 10k has been chosen as one of the club social races for 2018. It would be great to get a number of WERRs taking part and who knows, there may even be the opportunity for a refreshing beverage afterwards!
A link to the entry page is below. Travel and transport to be coordinated as the race approaches. Enter Paisley 10k There are lots of running events at this time of year in which WERR participates.
