We know, 2018 isn't even over with yet and we're talking 2019 but a few WERRs have signed up to this January 10K to keep the motivation going. It's apparently a beautiful race and whilst reports vary between "flat" and "subtle hills" it's a nice one to have in the calendar.

An amazing WERR story from Fiona Quayle...
Early 2018 I tried to get back into running after a 2 year break and physio for back/hip problems but struggled to get motivated to run. Wanting to build back up slowly I joined one of the WERR newbies groups. Even as a runner with previous experience I can't recommend the newbies group enough, it's incredibly well run, friendly and supportive.
Since moving to the main group I've run better than ever before, smashing previous personal bests and running tricky routes I wouldn't have been motivated to do on my own....not to mention dropping 3 dress sizes in the process :-). If you're looking for a friendly, sociable club with room for every type of runner you can't get better than WERR.
Thank you once again to the amazing Social Committee who surpassed themselves this year with the Christmas Night Oot! There was dancing, snax, games, tellings off and lots of lovely chat. :-)
Any pics (that people are willing to share!) please pass them on.
Once again WERR have one Club entry place for the 2019 London Marathon. Email Cathy if you want your name to go in the hat (email@example.com). It’s open to all WERR members.
We’ll pull the lucky name out of the hat after the annual WERR Turkey Run.
Don’t worry if you can’t make the Turkey Run, just make sure your name’s in the hat.
Congratulations to Sarah Berry and Pamela McCabe for completing 10 for 10!
As part of celebrating 10 years of Parkun in Scotland a challenge was set to run/walk/jog/volunteer at 10 different Scottish parkruns before the anniversary parkrun at Pollock on 1st Dec.
Who else took part? Let us know!
Quite a few WERRs doing this daily run challenge. Run for 3 miles or 25 minutes (whichever comes first) every day in December. Simples!

Did you know we have club values? These are things we want to promote and have every member be part of. The WERR values are:
Look out for more on values to come over the coming months!
..brave WERRs tackle more Lindsay's Cross Country.
Why brave? It's the day after the WERR Christmas Party! Good luck with that Allen, Stephen, Scott, Martin, Phil, Robert and Cordelia. :-)
Fantastic WERR turnout for the Funding Neuro 10k and Half Marathon, entry donations for which go towards neuroscience research into conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease and Parkinson's.
After a somewhat cold start both sets of runners had a great morning (with one mishap, heal soon Chris!), and with cake at the end of this local friendly run it's one to recommend!
Following lots of interest in strengthening and conditioning a monthly yoga session during the winter designed for WERR runners has now started.
Places at these sessions with Monica Slaven are first come first served with a limit of 12 due to space available in the Snug. £5 a session. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org directly to book.
