Did you know we have club values? These are things we want to promote and have every member be part of. The WERR values are:
Look out for more on values to come over the coming months! ..brave WERRs tackle more Lindsay's Cross Country.
Why brave? It's the day after the WERR Christmas Party! Good luck with that Allen, Stephen, Scott, Martin, Phil, Robert and Cordelia. :-) Fantastic WERR turnout for the Funding Neuro 10k and Half Marathon, entry donations for which go towards neuroscience research into conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease and Parkinson's.
After a somewhat cold start both sets of runners had a great morning (with one mishap, heal soon Chris!), and with cake at the end of this local friendly run it's one to recommend! Following lots of interest in strengthening and conditioning a monthly yoga session during the winter designed for WERR runners has now started.
Places at these sessions with Monica Slaven are first come first served with a limit of 12 due to space available in the Snug. £5 a session. Please email mslaven@outlook.com directly to book. WERRs have been carrying on running all over the world, literally! Check out what our amazing members have been up to.....
Sarah J had an amazing run at Tatton Park Half Marathon, whilst Fred, Stephen and Allen were Running with the Wind (it's the name of the race, honest) in Strathaven. Claire, Una, Simon and Graham absolutely smashed the Dublin Marathon (and highly recommend it!). Tracey and Kathryn were closer to home in the scenic Aviemore 10. On the opposite side of the world Isabel D completed the Melbourne Marathon! (WERR trip anyone?). Continuing the round the world in marathons theme, Angela and Katy ran the Chicago Marathon and Arlene ran Budapest Marathon. Amazing effort ladies! Elsewhere, Cathy was inspired by the legendary Eilidh Doyle at the Scottish Athletics Club Conference. Next up, WERRs venturing into Cross Country at Lindsays Short Course, good luck to Stephen, Andrew, Allen, Phil, Graeme J and Cordelia. Great turn out, go team WERR! A WERR-tastic day of PBs, first races and everything in between. Photo show is here.
Thanks to all the photographers and to Gillian for organising the post-run drinks and food. Rumour has it the shenanigans continued well into the night for some WERRs! A great day out with a great club. WERRs have been running all over the place recently! Huge well done to everyone.
All the boys in Cumbrae, Allen, Martin, Iain, Johnny and Gordon. A great wee local 10 mile race with stunning views. Fallen trees and a windy day made for an, err, interesting run. All the girls in Copenhagen, Sarah, Jane, Yvonne, Wendy and Pamela were joined by a very special guest, WERRs favourite Dane, Carl! A flat, beautiful half marathon course around the city in the biggest event the group had taken part in (22,000 runners, amazing to see). Whilst the winning women had a new European record the WERR crowd found it a bit warm to be our fastest outing but it is highly recommended, and with a cinnamon bun at the end, what's not to love. Our Scottish Half Marathon runners in Edinburgh, Graeme J, Neil and Jean. Another fast course along the coast created some great times and a lovely day, topped off with ice cream, post run snack of champions. And that's all before the big GSR weekend! Good luck to everyone taking part in the 10K or Half Marathon. |
