Great WERR turnout at Helensburgh last night.
PBs for Yvonne Jane O and Wendy.
Photos thanks to Wendy's mum and Simon :-)
Quote from Robbie
"The organisation was efficient, easy parking, supportive marshalling and locals, perfect chip timing and print off, great goodies, chunky medal - not to mention several PBs and fab weather.
WERR tops were standout and commented on (positively) by several people including the official photographer.
Hopefully Dumbarton and Glasgow Green will be as good."
Message from Phil Kyle who is running the London Marathon next Sunday April 23rd.
A few of you will know that I am running the London marathon next week along with Yvonne and Shona from the club.
The London marathon is well known as a huge running event - 40 thousand runners – that’s the same as a small town running!
It is also known as a fundraising event for many charities.
So next week I'm not going to be running in an aqua-marine WERR top but a lovely pink and blue Brain Tumour Charity one. This charity helps to fund research and support, and provide information, for people like my close friend Helen who was diagnosed last year.
That said I better not win it - without my WERR top!
Seriously if you like to sponsor me for this cause then I would really appreciate it if you could make a small donation at the following site.
Thanks for your support and keep on running everybody!
Fantastic and inspiring talk tonight from Myles Edwards and Dan Mulhare on running, Kenya and building houses and opportunities.
Thanks from all at West End Road Runners.

Huge congratulations to Ben Smith for winning the Helen Rollason Award on BBC 1 Sunday 18th December 2016.
We set two of Ben's 401 Marathons in March at the half way stage of his challenge.

Sunday 21st August 2016
A while ago I caved on my first West End Road Runners run. I "wasn't really a runner" and 10 minute miles were something other people did. Fast forward a few months of support and encouragement from the WERR team and I've just completed my first 10k in 58:57.
Couldn't be happier or more grateful for their kindness. 😊
Date : Sunday 14th August 2016
Registration : 9.00 - 9.45 am Coilhallien Woods Car Park Callander
Cost : Donation to Strathcarron Hospice
Bus to Aberfoyle leaves at 10am
Message form the organiser
Only a couple of weeks to go until the run.
Margaret and I ran the route last weekend and you will be pleased to hear that the entire route is clear so we can return to the original distance of 11.8 miles!
The first mile is just as hilly as ever but the terrain is definitely better - it is smooth and almost spongelike under foot which definitely takes some of the sting out of it. My approach is always to take it easy for that first mile which means you can enjoy the rest of a very pretty route.
There is only a minor change between 8-9 miles where they have installed a few speed bumps. Other than that there will be a slight change in location of marshals/water stations. There will be a Marshal/water station at 2, 5, 6 and 9 miles - the 5 and 9 mile stations also have toilets. Finally, we will not have a mile marker at mile 7 - this is the very narrow off-road stretch alongside loch venacher. All other miles will be marked.
Looking forward to seeing you all at Coilhallien Woods Car Park on Sunday 14th August between 9.00 - 9.45 for registration. Bus leaves at 10.00 for race start in Aberfoyle.
As always, no charge for participating in the run but any donations for Strathcarron Hospice will be gratefully received.
